Hi everyone and welcome to my first ever blog.
Well I'll jump right in with what I assume most of my blogs will be about. My Lapband surgery.
On the 21st of April 2009 I had gastric banding done. I've been obese for all of my adult life, so it's very exciting to think that one day this wont be the case. It's been 2 months and I've lost about 15kgs. Not quite as much as I was expecting, but I'm still happy that it's going in the right direction. I'm finally starting to get comments from friends now too. When you're skinny 15kgs probably sounds like a lot, but I started out at 117.7kgs, so I'm still over 100kgs. My goal weight is the high 70's (I'm 5'8.5").
The recovery from the surgery was worse than I was told it would be. I have a little baby and lifting her for the first week after I felt like my stomache was being torn open. Anyone who says you can go back to work a day or 2 later is lying! take AT LEAST a week off. it was around 10 days before I was feeling pretty normal. The worst part though was the heart burn. It was crippling. it actually made me stop dead in my tracks and clutch my chest like I was having a heart attack. but that disappeared after the first week too.
Now everything is good. I can eat anything, just very small amounts. From what I've heard most people can't eat bread and steak and a few other things, but I haven't had a problem.
The other things my blogs will be about is my upcoming wedding. I'm getting married on the 20th of Feb 2010 and I'm soooo excited! Planning it is harder than I thought, but great fun. I keep changing my mind on things like colours of bridesmaids dresses and flowers, but it's all good because we have plenty of time to sort all of that out. the main thing is the ceremony and reception venues and the celebrant are all booked.
Anyway, I think thats a long enough blog for my first one. I'll bore you and you'll never come back! By the way, I'm keeping track of my weight loss with monthly photos of me in just my underwear, so if you wanna see before and after pics later then follow me. cos they'll be up in a couple of months I reckon.
